How To Use Hydrogen Peroxide For Nail Fungus

Athlete’s Foot Fungus Cure [Apple Cider Vinegar Treatment!]

Hydrogen peroxide can be used separately to kill toenail fungus or in combination with other active antifungal agents such as vinegar.

Hydrogen peroxide foot or hand soak

It is a fact that using hydrogen peroxide for nail fungus is quite effective but how do you go about it? Soaking the affected nail in hydrogen peroxide will increase the oxygen level around the infection which is hostile to nail fungus. This is called an oxidate therapy.

  • Get hydrogen peroxide with concentration level not higher than 3% to prevent skin damage
  • Dilute hydrogen peroxide with warm water in a bucket or basin
  • Soak the affected hand or foot in the hydrogen peroxide solution for about half an hour at least once a day
  • Then dry the nails thoroughly

How Do You Make A Vinegar Foot Soak

If you would like to try out a vinegar foot bath at home, you can follow the instructions below.

Step 1: Get a bottle of vinegar. The type of vinegar you use doesnt necessarily matter most people either take a white vinegar foot soak or an apple cider vinegar foot soak. The important thing is the pH of the vinegar, which should typically be 2-3. So, its not a question of what is better for toenail fungus , its a question of whether youve selected vinegar with a pH of 2-3.

Step 2: Fill a sink or bowl with 1 part vinegar and 2 parts warm water .

Top tip: if youre finding the smell of vinegar too strong or unpleasant, you can add a few drops of essential oils to the mixture, such as lavender oil.

Step 3: Soak foot for 15-30 minutes daily in the mixture. Do not soak for longer than 30 minutes.

Step 4: Make sure that you dry your foot/feet thoroughly after your soak. The fungus grows best in a moist environment, so leaving feet damp encourages fungal growth especially if you are putting on socks or shoes next.

Step 5: Repeat this process daily until you can see that your infection has disappeared.

If you have particularly sensitive skin, you may find that vinegar causes some skin irritation. If this is the case, you can try decreasing the time you spend soaking your feet to 10-15 minutes or diluting the mixture with more water. You could also try reducing the amount of foot soaks you try to a few times a week instead.

Home Remedies To Help Remove Or Stop Toenail Fungus From A Harrisburg Podiatrist

Toenail fungus is extremely unattractive and can make individuals feel self-conscious about their feet. If stopping into your local foot doctor is not a possibility, you are not entirely out of luck. There are five home remedies that work well above the rest as toenail fungus treatment options.

1. Use a Rub of Tea Tree Oil and Orange Oil

A mixture of 1 teaspoon tea tree oil, half a teaspoon of orange oil, and half a teaspoon of grapeseed or olive oil can be rubbed onto the toenails with a cotton ball to clear up toenail fungus. This treatment is not one your University Area podiatrist will provide so you will have to do this at home as part of your daily routine. The natural anti-bacterial and fungicidal properties of tea tree oil make it a very promising toenail fungus treatment option.

2. Rub Coconut Oil on Your Feet

Coconut oil is one of the most commonly used products for natural remedies. When it comes to foot fungus, this product works like magic. The fatty acids in coconut oil work as natural fungicides, causing the fungal membranes to break down and clear up. Use gloves to rub coconut oil to the infected toenail. You can even rub coconut oil over your entire foot to leave your skin soft and nourished. A thin layer applied 2 to 3 times a day works great as a toenail fungus treatment.

3. Soak Your Feet in Baking Soda and Vinegar

4. Olive Tree Extract

5. Oregano Oil

Making A Vinegar Soak

To Kill Toe Nail and Foot Fungus. 1/4 cup of each ...

If you want to try treating your nail fungus with vinegar, then the best thing to do is soak your foot in a vinegar-water mixture. Diluting the vinegar is important to prevent it from irritating your skin. Try a daily soak and see if it helps clear the infection. If not, then don’t panic. You can still use more conventional treatments.

  • 1Trim your nail back before soaking your foot. If your nail is covering the fungus, then topical treatments wont work very well. Take a clipper and trim your nail back as far as you can. This helps the vinegar reach the fungus and kill it.
  • Dont try to cut your nail past where the white section ends. You could cut yourself.
  • If you have trouble cutting your nail, try softening it with a urea cream first. This is a common cosmetic treatment for skin irritations, and is available at most pharmacies.
  • Disinfect the clipper as soon as youre finished so you dont spread the infection. Soak it in isopropyl alcohol for 30 minutes to kill all the fungus.
  • 2Mix 1 cup each of warm water and white vinegar into a bowl. Find a bowl or bucket that you can fit your foot into. Pour both vinegar and warm water in, then stir them together.
  • You could also use apple cider vinegar instead of white vinegar. Both contain similar amounts of acetic acid.
  • 3Soak your foot for 10-20 minutes. Place your foot into the bowl and make sure the water covers your infected toe. Then keep it there for 10-20 minutes so the vinegar can soak into the fungus.

An intriguing recommendation was published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology . The authors suggest a vinegar sock soak. Here is their protocol:

Each evening, patients go to a bathroom or other place with a vinegar-resistant floor, don old cotton socks, pour a few spoons of plain or apple-cider vinegar and a few spoons of water over the toes, and sit and read for 10-15 minutes.
